David Brook
joined us as a research student in October 1998. He is working on simulation of liquid crystal surfaces, finding the equilibrium state of a liquid crystal cell via the multigrid method.
He may be found in the Escience centre
 
Matthew Cole
joined us as a research student in October 1998. He was working on numerical modelling studies of long-term coastal evolution and sediment dynamics.
He has completed his thesis and is now working in the Bahamas.

Andrew Ford
joined us as a research student in October 1997. He was jointly supervised with Tony Payne in Geography and worked on interferometry of glacial features.
He went to the University of Utah.
 
Dr Jacek Generowicz
was a Research Fellow whose interests lay in the application of object oriented generic programming methods to high performance scientific computing. He worked on the FEMLIB project, a library of finite element method routines, which he is using to model photonic bandgap materials.
He is now working at the CERN Laboratory.
 
Vladimir Getov
worked with us some years ago on benchmarking. He is now a Professor at the University of Westminster.

Richard Gooday
joined us as a research student in October 1999. He worked on numerical modelling of the Langjokull ice cap, Iceland.
He has now transferred to the University of Bristol.

was a research student modelling the effects of solar flares on space telescopes.
 
Graeme Pound
joined us as a research student in October 1998. He examined ecological models of interspecific competition and their implications for the evolution of sexual reproduction. He is currently a Research Fellow at the Escience centre on the Geodise project.
Alexa Robinson
joined us as a research student in October 1999. She worked on the fast multipole method.
 
Jasmin Wason
joined us as a research student in October 1998. She is currently working on web interfaces to scientific databases. She is currently a Research Fellow at the Escience centre on the Geodise project.

Dr Ivan Wolton
was a Research Fellow working on the POST project, which developed tools to support shared-memory parallelism with OpenMP. Until October 1999 he worked in the Research Councils HPCI centre on support for Grand Challenge applications.
He currently works at the University Computing Service.
